Plants vs. Zombies - Page 2

Popcap needs to port insaniquarium. But this game looks good too.

Err, I mean "The Zombies are here"!!!

As a first time player of the game I must say it's a lot of fun. But not without a couple of things that are puzzling me.

It's fun to play but it is overall an easy game. At least it has been so far (I'm up to stage 4 pool and fog levels). But there has been one or two exceptions where all of the sudden the game is much harder. And then it goes back to being easy. So to me it seems the difficulty balance isn't quite right. Maybe this is just the strategies I'm using or not using?

The help section is amusing but not helpful. I'm a person who likes to read the help sections for most games. Particularly games where the main gaming element is strategy. So when I had questions and wanted answers I headed to the help section. I got a chuckle but no help. I think maybe PopCap assume that everyone who buys this version has already played it on their Mac or PC. Not so.

There's been one or two other very minor niggles, but so far I'm loving the game. It's fun and quirky and the different types of zombies are amusing. Crazy Dave is a bit of a mystery (I think that's my cooking pot he is wearing on his head). You have to think about what plant seeds you select and how you manage your limited resources. The mini games between some levels help break up the "sameness" of the game.

More and more as I play this game I find myself wanting to play as the Zombies. I wonder if PopCap has a sequel in mind?

I think the help section is the same way in the PC version lol I think it was a way of getting out of writing all of that! Plus its pretty self explanatory. Yes its a bit easy but most Popcap games are. They are more fun and addicting then challenging they are mostly games for the casual gamers out there. I am also up to the pool/fog level so far and its been simple so far but the fun outways that. I havent "died" once yet so I havent seen what happens when the zombies reach the house but I would assume its pretty amusing...

There is an almanac in the game, for info on the plants (or zombies.) As for strategy, you can always do a web search on <game name> walkthrough.

PopCap didn't pack 100% of the computer game into the app but they came close--and this is, as usual for the app store, a bargain.
